About The Project
-
Since 1994, Bali Buda has been part of Bali's growing culture of healthy, organic and locally made food.
What began as a health food store evolved into a broader lifestyle brand—with cafés, bakeries, refill stations and a growing range of products made for everyday living.
As the business expanded, its packaging and visual identity needed to evolve with it.
JED Creative was brought in to refresh the brand identity and create a packaging system that could bring greater consistency and clarity across Bali Buda's growing range.
-
Bali Buda already had something many brands spend years trying to create: character.
Its appeal came from feeling local, handmade and genuinely connected to Bali.
The challenge was not to replace that personality with a polished corporate identity.
It was to make the brand more coherent and presentable while keeping its warmth and authenticity.
Our guiding thought was simple:
Still a warung. Just more considered. -
With a wide range of products—from sauces and jams to soups, baked goods and other locally made foods—the existing packaging system had become increasingly difficult to manage.
We simplified the graphic language and established clearer rules for how the identity, information and illustrations should work together.
This created a system that is easier to understand on shelf and, importantly, easier for Bali Buda's in-house team to continue developing
-
The new system deliberately avoids generic "organic" branding.
Instead, it retains the visual qualities that make Bali Buda feel uniquely itself.
Traditional patterns, hand-drawn illustrations and an informal graphic character bring a sense of craft and local culture to the packaging.
The result is a visual language that feels organic without being predictable, and contemporary without becoming sterile.
-
The challenge with a packaging redesign is rarely one beautiful hero package.
It is whether the system continues to work when there are ten, twenty or fifty more products.
We created a flexible packaging architecture that allows different products to have their own character while remaining clearly part of the Bali Buda family.
This gives the brand room to expand across categories without requiring every new product to start from scratch.
-
Bali Buda didn't need to become something else.
It needed to become a clearer, more consistent version of itself.
By simplifying the visual system while preserving its handmade and cultural character, JED helped Bali Buda bridge the gap between its roots as a local health-food warung and its future as a growing lifestyle brand.
Local at heart.
Considered by design.
