About The Project
-
Ice cream is supposed to be simple: good ingredients, great flavour and the pleasure of enjoying something you love.
Honest Spoon was created as an artisanal ice cream brand built around that idea. Every batch is handcrafted on premise using fresh, quality ingredients, with no artificial flavourings, colours or vegetable fat.
JED Creative was brought in to develop the brand from the ground up, from naming and brand strategy to identity, packaging and brand guidelines.
-
The ice cream category is often dominated by bright colours, exaggerated flavours and playful visual language.
Honest Spoon needed a different personality.
The opportunity was to create a brand that felt genuine, contemporary and approachable, while communicating the quality and care behind the product.
At the heart of the brand was a simple thought:
Good ingredients. No unnecessary fuss.
The name Honest Spoon captures this philosophy.
It feels straightforward and human, while also creating a memorable brand character that can extend beyond the product itself.
-
We developed a visual identity that reflects the handmade nature of the product without falling into the typical visual language of artisanal food brands.
The identity balances warmth and simplicity with a distinctive personality, creating a brand that feels equally comfortable on an ice cream cup, storefront, social media post or packaging.
Rather than over-explaining the product, the identity lets the brand's character do the talking.
-
For an ice cream brand, packaging is part of the experience.
The cup becomes something people hold, photograph, share and associate with the moment of indulgence.
We created a flexible packaging system that gives different flavours and products their own expression while maintaining a consistent Honest Spoon identity.
The result is a range that feels playful and collectible without losing the sense of craft behind the product.
-
Honest Spoon doesn't try to make indulgence complicated.
Its proposition is refreshingly straightforward: use better ingredients, make the product carefully and let people enjoy it.
The brand therefore sits somewhere between craft and everyday pleasure—premium enough to feel special, but approachable enough to become a regular treat.
-
The identity extends beyond packaging into the shop environment, social media and everyday customer interactions.
Together, these touchpoints create a cohesive brand experience that feels personal, optimistic and uncomplicated.
The result is not an ice cream brand trying too hard to be artisanal.
It is a brand built around a much simpler idea:
Be honest about what goes into the spoon.
Honest ingredients. Handmade every day. No guilt required.
